Brief Description

I am an Alaskan certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and also an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in Early Childhood and Certified Infant Massage Educator. Translated into normal words, that means I have a Master’s degree that taught me what special skills a person from birth to age 21 with a vision impairment will need to be independent in our sighted world. I contract with Alaskan Infant Learning Programs who provide Early Intervention. I make home visits with the team.

Services Offered

  • Early Intervention/Infant Services
    • Functional Vision Assessments Learning Media Assessments Special Evaluation Test to determine developmental skills of a baby with vision impairment. Connection with braille for child and parents Interpreting Eye Reports and discussing the medical conditions with the ophthalmologist directly together. Helping to implement strategies for eating, playing, moving, and bonding that other families have used with success. Registering the baby for free materials through American Printing House for the Blind (books, toys, etc.) Helping family know what to expect in the coming years beyond childhood. I teach Infant Massage for babies with vision impairment (I was trained by and use the International Association of Infant Massage techniques).
